CIA, FBI blamed for 9/11 report
11:25:00 .
Washington, July 24 - A US Congressional Commission that investigated the September 11 attacks will release Thursday a long-awaited report expected to severely criticize the failings of intelligence services and leave unanswered questions about the role of Saudi Arabia.

The 800-page document is "compelling and galvanizing and will refocus the public's attention on September 11," said Tim Roemer, a former democratic congressman from Indiana, who was a member of the house intelligence committee until the end of 2002.

"Certain mistakes, errors and gaps in the system will be made clear," said Roemer, who is one of 10 members of an independent commission put together by the White House to investigate events leading up to the attacks.

The report will also present a coherent chronology of ignored warnings or other signs not shared by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Central Intelligence Agency in the months preceding the terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon building in Washington.

The document will also indicate that high-ranking officials at the White House had been informed during the summer of 2001 of possible plans by the Al-Qaeda terror network to hijack commercial airliners and to launch a spectacular attack, according to congressional sources.
