Failing to appear in protest action

Algiers -Sept 21 - Eleven Algerian newspapers failed to appear on Monday in protest at what they called government intimidation.
The newspapers have run foul of the government with their reports alleging financial irregularities by people with links to president Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
In the wake of the reports, executives of the newspapers were summoned to appear before the authorities and state-run printing works bombarded the papers with demands for payment of bills.
