Differences are natural: Karroubi

Yazd, Sept 22 - Majlis Speaker Mehdi Karroubi said here Monday that the existence of differences is a natural phenomenon in the country's political life which should not be misinterpreted by the enemies.
Karroubi made the remark in a special ceremony of an annual military parade to mark the beginning of Iran's Sacred Defense Week.
He said the Iranian nation will stand up against any foreign threat in spite of their various viewpoints and inclinations.
"We will defend our culture, religion, territory and identity and stand up against threats," Karroubi stressed.
Pointing to the country's military experiences and existence of valuable potentials, the speaker said, "our forces are very competent and defend their territory by relying on God's help and orders of the Supreme Leader (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei)."
He said Iran is an independent states which believes in the principle of dialogue.
He outlined iran's policy of mutual respect, detente and interaction with neighboring countries and said, "we have good relations with countries through safeguarding the ideals of the Islamic revolution and our Islamic identity."
"We should not forget the achievements of the Sacred Defense," he said as he lauded the Iranian combatants during the eight-year Sacred Defense.
"The enemies supported the former regime in Iraq not only through material and military assistance but via their propaganda and did their utmost to defeat the revolution," he added.
He advised the political groups and the nation to maintain unity.
The speaker called on the nation, media, parliamentarians and clergymen to safeguard national interests and maintain unity and solidarity.
"the Islamic revolution will go ahead and our revolution is still dynamic and progressive," he further stated.
