Berlin, Sept 22 - Hamburger SV forward Mehdi Mahdavikia was nominated Monday for the Bundesliga team of the week following his superb performance in his squad's narrow 2-1 victory over Hansarostock.
Mahdavikia, coming off a one-month break from a nagging ankle joint injury, was named into the team by the prestigious bi-weekly Kicker sports magazine.
Leading the Bundesliga in assists last year, Mahdavikia has been one of the better players on a dismal Hamburg squad this season.
Regarded as one of this season's secret title favorites, Hamburgis currently ranked 17th in the 18-team Bundesliga.
