Iran breaks 4x400m relay record

Tehran, June 23 - Iran ended a 29-year drought on Sunday as it set a new 4x400m relay record after almost three decades in Kazakhstan, said athletics federation. A four-member track-and-field of Iran's Islamic Azad university clocked 3:09.08 minutes, winning the gold of Kazanov cup and breaking the record of the country set by the quartet Entezari, Alamshah, Arshadi, and Kowaiti 29 years ago in the Asian game s in Tehran. The varsity side comprises Mohammad Akefian, Ehsan Mohajer-Shojaei, Esmaeil Kaboutaran, and Vahid Yazdani-Nejad. Kazakhstan ranked second and the third title went to Uzbekistan.
