Assad to enhance ties with Sinha

Damascus, Aug 2 - Syrian President Bashar Assad and Indian External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha had talks Saturday on boosting relations, and on the situation in Iraq and the occupied Palestinian territories, Syria's official SANA News Agency said.
It said Assad called for a more active Indian role in the Middle East and in the peace process, lauding India's "wise stand" towards the occupation of Iraq and towards the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Sinha arrived Friday, telling SANA on arrival that the three-day visit would further contribute to bolstering mutual understanding and cooperation.
