US arrest key Fedayeen leader

Iraq, Aug 2 - US troops captured a key leader of Saddam Hussein's Fedayeen militia in the fugitive strongman's hometown of Tikrit, a US military officer said.
The military arrested the Fedayeen leader, whose name was not revealed, late Friday just hours after the army nabbed two associates of Saddam in a sweep.
"We had a good night last night," said Colonel James Hickey, commander of the fourth infantry division's first brigade."
His arrest was crucial in helping break the back of anti-American resistance," major Troy Smith, Hickey's second-in-command, told reporters.
The raid happened at 10:26 pm (1826 GMT) in a house in southwestern Tikrit.
