Heavy gunfire emerges in Liberia

Monrovia, Aug 2 - Heavy gunfire between rebels and government forces erupted around a key bridge in downtown Monrovia on Saturday as President Charles Taylor met regional envoys to discuss deployment of peacekeepers in the country.
Residents said machinegun and rifle fire broke out around 1100 GMT in the Duala area of the Liberian capital, close to Stockton bridge.
Four people including a young boy were hurt.
Earlier, a reporters saw government troops heading towards the Stockton and new bridge areas aboard trucks mounted with machineguns.
